Pakistani artist Shah Abdullah Alamee presented his calligraphic performance at the "Art Russia" contemporary art fair in Moscow.
The artist presented a deeply personal and spiritually rich performance, inspired by the poetry of Pakistan's national poet, Muhammad Iqbal. "This is my meditation, my communion with the Divine, and my attempt to capture the inexpressible," the artist confessed.
Shah Abdullah Alami utilizes the ancient Persian calligraphy technique of Siya Mashq, and his performance is accompanied by traditional melodies in the genres of Raag Bhairav, Dastgāh Māhur, and Gusheh Rāk Abdollah, which, according to the artist, transform the creative process into a true "spiritual journey."
